Boost Child Abuse Prevention & Intervention - Safe Kids, Safe Families (CAD $34,348)
Boost is a community-based agency providing child abuse and violence prevention services. The Safe Kids, Safe Families program provides trauma assessment and specialized services for children who have been physically abused by a caregiver. The non-offending caregivers are also assessed on their ability to provide support and protection. Treatment is provided to the child and non-offending caregiver to strengthen their relationship and to help children heal. HFC funds will support a clinician working with the families. www.boostforkids.org
The Gatehouse - Child and Family Advocacy Program (CAD $16,250)
The Gatehouse is a community based charitable organization serving those impacted by childhood sexual abuse. The Child and Family Advocacy Program provides immediate and ongoing support, advocacy, and case management services to abused children and their families during child abuse investigations. One consistent person supports the family during the investigation, liaising with medical and judicial teams, providing referrals to support services and treatment, and attending appointments related to the case. Kids Help Phone - Enhanced Counselling to Abused Young People (CAD $34,000)
Kids Help Phone provides technologically-based confidential counseling and referrals to Canadian children and youth. The Enhanced Counselling to Abused Young People program provides online counseling sessions at any time, day or night, to children and youth experiencing abuse. The program will also develop training materials on reportable abuse and create a library of resources on the handling and reporting of abuse cases. HFC funds will support the online counselors and the development of the training resources. www.kidshelpphone.ca
Native Child and Family Services of Toronto - Aboriginal Auntie’s Program (Ninoshe) (CAD $35,000)
Native Child and Family Services of Toronto is a multi-service child welfare agency targeting the Toronto Native community. The Aboriginal Auntie’s Program helps at-risk Aboriginal parents build parenting capacity towards maintaining care and custody of their children. The program delivers a culturally-based parenting support program in the home that develops positive parenting skills, enhances stability, and promotes healing and wellness. HFC funds will support the Ninoshe Worker. www.nativechild.org
Oolagen Community Services - Wraparound for Youth Justice Clients (CAD $30,000)
Oolagen Community Services is a children’s mental health center. Wraparound for Youth Justice Clients serves youth with a history of serious violence or abuse, and/or youth who are in conflict with the law through criminal or gang activities. The program engages, stabilizes, and builds community-based support networks for youth in order to reduce the incidence of abuse and recidivism, and to promote safer families and communities. HFC funds will support the Wraparound Facilitator. www.oolagen.org
